Saturday 24th June

Overwhelmed by the weather through the night after a hard day in poor conditions to finish in 24:10. Despite the obvious disappointment I am pleased to have been able to get round - I know I am fit enough and that with reasonable weather I can get under 24 hours.

Running and Roadside Support teams were just fantastic and I can't thank them enough.

Will I try it again? I have been speaking to one or two who helped out and, perhaps, Albert Sunter's reaction typifies their commitement and ethusiasm.

"I've just heard. You are going to do it again?" - "yes"
"This year" - "Probably, yes"
"Good"

More details of this weekend's adventure will follow, although probably not until we get back from a week's peak-bagging in Eire.

Thanks everyone for your help, support and enthusiasm.

Ian,

Fantastic effort. I know you will be dissapointed but try not to be, after the training you have put in you will do it. I agree with Albert's comments and recommend you have another go this year whilst you still have the fitness.

Must have been pretty miserable in the clag. You will do it if you have another go in better weather. Let me know when you set a date and I'll see if I can help.

Thanks John

We didn't see anything apart from the end of descents and the start of climbs at the road crossings.

I'll let you know when I have a date.

Commiserations, what dreadful luck. At least you know it wasn't your own failures that held you back. Good luck on the next go.
